I know that spring is right around the corner, but it is so hard to imagine with the snowy and cold weather we have been having. So to help get through, I decided to do this weeks DIY to Try project with spring in mind. It is a quick and easy project that any age child can do!

Simple Spring Hand Print Flowers

Supplies:

  • Paper or canvas (any size you prefer) I used a large drawing sheet from the Dollar Tree
  • Water based paint in multiple colors
  • Paintbrush
  • Washcloth or towel to wipe the color off the hand

Directions:

  1. Place paper on flat surface. It you are worried about mess place a paper bag or craft mat down first.
  2. Let your child choose what colors they want to use and how many flowers they are going to make. We chose Purple, Pink and Red.
  3. take the paint and squirt a nickle to quarter size amount in the palm of the hand to be used. Make sure the hand is flat and the palm is facing upwards.
  4. Use the paint brush to spread the paint evenly across the hand. Cover all the fingers and thumb as well.

5. Place the hand down on to the paper and then lift back up. Use the damp wash cloth or towel to remove the excess paint from the hand.

6. Repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 until you have the desired number of flowers. With smaller hands you can make more flowers, bigger hands maybe less, depending on the size of the paper.

7. Once the flower part of the picture is done. Assist in painting the stems and grass. All done! I hope you enjoy this simple, inexpensive, and quick activity with your child.
