One of my friends and family favorite gifts that I have made over the years is this Do It Yourself Peppermint and Rosemary Scrub Cubes.
They are simple to make. Actual work time is about 15 minutes max.
That makes it an awesome gift to make if you are really short on time! They smell ahhhMAZING. Plus, scrub cubes are perfect to get rid of any dead skin or exfoliate. Just do not use them on your face!!
DIY Peppermint & Rosemary Sugar Scrub Cubes- A perfect last-minute holiday gift
Ingredients:
- 1/3 Cup Coconut Oil (I use organic Trader Joe’s or Nutiva)
- 1/3 – 1/2 Cup melt and pour soap (I use goat milk based)
- 1 Tablespoon Jojoba Oil
- 1 Cup Sugar (I use organic)
- Essential oils (I use Barefut)- you can use any scent combo you want!
- 5 drops peppermint
- 5 drops rosemary
Supplies:
- 1 Cup Glass measuring cup (Pyrex or Anchor Hocking for example)
- 2 Cup Glass measuring cup (Pyrex or Anchor Hocking for example)
- 4 – 8 Cup Glass measuring cup or glass bowl (Pyrex or Anchor Hocking for example)- depends on what you have available.
- Spoon
- Spatula
- Molds (I use the silicone candy molds)
- Mason Jar or other glass gift jar
- ribbon or other decorative items
- gift tags
Directions:
- Place water in the large glass measuring cup or bowl and heat it up in the microwave a few minutes. Then dump the water out. That way the bowl is warm when you transfer your hot liquids into it. Set aside the bowl.
- In the glass jar it came in, but without the lid, melt the coconut oil until it is liquid. Measure out 1/3 cup of liquid into the 1 Cup glass measuring cup. If your coconut oil is already liquid, then you can skip the melting step!

- Cup up the soap into small chunks and place them into the 2 cup glass measuring cup. Microwave in 15 – 20 second bursts, stop and stir with the spoon each time until fully melted.

- Add the melted coconut oil with the melted soap in the larger glass measuring cup.

- Add one tablespoon of Jojoba oil.

- Mix until they are combined together.
- Add the essential oil and stir again.
- Add the sugar in and mix until it has the same consistency. The consistency is wet but thick.

- Then place the entire mixture back in the microwave and use 15 – 20 second bursts until the mixture is more liquid and pourable.
- If you are having a hard time pouring, you can always pop the mixture back in the microwave for short bursts of 10 – 20 seconds.
- Pour into your silicone molds and allow to dry. Approximately 1 hour. If they seem wet still wait another hour before un-molding.

- Store in an air tight jar and use within 1 – 2 months. Please note that this has coconut oil in it so it can make the floor of your shower slippery. I recommend sitting when using these scrubbers on your feet. Also use one cube per shower and do not store in the shower / bathroom. I recommend that you store them in the refrigerator they will keep longer!
