Like most goals you want to achieve in life, if they are not a regular habit ingrained in your daily routine, you will most likely not succeed in keeping them up. That can be a tough pill to swallow. For me, fitness is definitely something that falls into that category. Do you find it hard to achieve your health and fitness goals too? What is a way that you can make yourself more accountable and help achieve your fitness goals? Tracking it!
If you make your fitness and health routines trackable, with this free printable Fitness Tracker and you will be able to see at a glance how much positive progress you are making.
Track day to day, week to week or month to month. To see what days if any are harder to meet your fitness goals. If you know where your issues lie, then you can work on making a plan to fix it and incorporate fitness into those days. Using a tracking sheet also makes it into a bit of a game, at least until you see that you can do it and that you can succeed. You can see in black and white (or pretty multi color, if you are anything like me) whether you exercised each day. That small blank square begging you to get out and move so you can color it in.
Why Exercise?
Not sure why you should even be wasting your precious limited time on exercise of any kind? There are plenty or reasons to start and keep exercising today.
For one thing, it can really improve your mood. Exercising releases a hormone called endorphins, which give you positive feelings after. This can be a big boost to your day and make you more likely to keep going and exercise the next day!
Another positive effect that exercise can have on you is helping you to lose and/or maintain your weight. Exercising regularly and with intensity can help you lose weight. Continuing that will help you maintain your weight once you have lost it. If you are starting at the beginning thought just working to take 10,000 steps a day is a great place to start. Work on incorporating a walk every day and go from there.
One of the best benefits of regular exercise is the big energy boost it can give you. If you have kids, any extra energy is a useful thing!
All that exercising also helps promote good sleep, this is thought to be due to the change in body temperature. But science says it improves circadian rhythms which are critical to getting good sleep.
A big plus to exercise is it strengthens your muscles, specifically your heart, strengthens your lungs, reduces blood sugar levels, and regulates blood pressure.
The one thing that surveys and tests cannot measure is how good you feel when you meet your weight loss goals, when you go to the gym everyday and become accountable to yourself. I feel better and look better. That matters for how I perceive me, not for any other reason!
For these reasons and more you should start exercising today if you are not already. If you are already exercising, but not consistently, then a Workout Log like this free Fitness Tracker Printable is just what the doctor ordered.
What are the Benefits of a Fitness Log
The next question you may have, is why use a paper fitness tacker? I tried using phone trackers and just could not get myself going with it. I put the printout of the Exercise and Health Tracker on my refrigerator and it is a constant reminder of my personal health and fitness goals. On the phone it is SO EASY to get sidetracked doing other things – social media, youtube, texting, email, you get the idea.
So here are a few reasons you should use one too:
- Easy to see how much progress you are making at a glance
- Can be placed where you will not be distracted (phone, TV, etc)
- Tracking with this free printable Fitness Tracker only takes a few moment
- An activity tracker keeps you accountable
- A workout log is simple to use
- It can be customized to meet your personal needs, unlike a one size fits all
- It can help you meet your goals by reminding you of what you want to accomplish. Examples include
- Walking / Running
- 10,000 steps a day
- Weightlifting
- Water Intake
- Vitamins
- 3 Meals a Day
- A desired calorie threshold
